Saperavi the Next Big Red?

Wines from Georgia, the country, are blowing up thanks to great press and you can increasingly find them on leading restaurant lists, but one indigenous Georgian variety stands out as “the” hot new red — Saperavi (sah-per-ah-vee).  Translated as “dye,” Saperavi is one of the few teinturier – red skin and red flesh – grape varieties in the world.Wine Enthusiast has written that Saperavi is one of the wines on the rise and recently awarded 8 Georgian wines 90 points. So we think it is time for you to Drink More Saperavi so we are launching our tasting series to introduce you to the diversity of the Saperavi grapes.

 

Drink More Saperavi – Tastings Across DC Metro Area

We will be tasting Saperavi wines all over the DC metro area in the month of December. We will try dry Saperavi, best-buy Saperavi, qvevri Saperavi, natural-wine Saperavi, oaked Saperavi, young-vine Saperavi, old-vine Saperavi, Saperavi rose, semi-sweet Saperavi, juicy Saperavi, and of course some 90 point stunners.
