The 2014 Mtsvane had a tough act to follow in the magnificent 2013 Mtsvane from Shalauri. The good news is that they nailed it once again. For their 2014 Mtsvane Shalauri Wine Cellars sourced their Mtsvane grapes from the Manavi district of Kakheti region. This artisanal wine is produced by the traditional Qvevri Method -- an 8,000 year old uniquely Georgian that utilizes a huge clay jar, Qvevri, buried underneath the ground to allow wine fermentation and aging in an even, naturally cool condition. This wine sees extended skin contact, 6 months, in the case of the Mtsvane, and low interference in the vilification process.
