Mtsvane

For their 2015 Mtsvane Shalauri Wine Cellars sourced their Mtsvane grapes from the Kistauri region of Kakheti region. This artisanal wine is produced by the traditional Qvevri Method -- an 8,000 year old uniquely Georgian that utilizes a huge clay jar, Qvevri, buried underneath the ground to allow wine fermentation and aging in an even, naturally cool condition.

This wine sees extended skin contact, 6 months, in the case of the Mtsvane, and low interference in the vinification process.

Shalauri is one of the few small wineries that is intentionally doing bottle aging before release. This wine is intentionally aged in bottle for 18 months before release. It is one of the few and exceptionally versions of aged amber wine in the US.
